Advertising and Commercial Promotions Policy
The Environmental Health Engineering and Management Journal (EHEMJ), in its commitment to safeguarding scientific independence, preserving the trust of the research community, and adhering to the highest standards of international publishing ethics (including the guidelines of DOAJ and COPE), is dedicated to conducting all advertising activities with principles of transparency, impartiality, and complete separation from scholarly content.
1. Fundamental Principle of Independence from Editorial Process All advertising activities and commercial promotions will, under no circumstances and in no way, influence the peer-review process, editorial decisions, publication schedules, or the scientific content of the journal. Decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts are based solely on scientific merit, originality, and research quality, and are entirely independent of commercial or advertising considerations.
2. Current Journal Policy on Advertising Acceptance EHEMJ currently does not accept any commercial advertising that could potentially influence editorial decisions or compromise the journal's scientific independence. This policy has been adopted to fully preserve scientific integrity and the trust of readers, authors, and international indexing services.
3. Framework for Potential Future Advertising Activities Should the journal decide to accept any form of advertising in the future, such activities will be conducted strictly within the following framework and in full compliance with Principle 15 of the "Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing" (DOAJ/COPE/OASPA/WAME):
- a) Types of Advertisements to be Considered: Only advertisements relevant to the journal's scientific fields (such as laboratory equipment, specialized software, scientific books, reputable academic conferences, and research services) will be considered. Misleading, non-scientific, or health-related product advertisements lacking valid certifications will not be accepted under any circumstances.
- b) Decision-Making Authority: Decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of any advertisement will be made exclusively by the Journal Office with final approval from the Editor-in-Chief. No external entity or individual outside the journal's official structure will have the right to intervene in this decision-making process.
- c) Display Method: Advertisements will not be linked in any way to article content, reader behavior, or article keywords. They will be displayed solely on a random basis and in clearly designated, separate sections of the website (such as sidebars or page footers).
4. Complete Separation from Scholarly Content All advertisements and promotional materials (if accepted in the future) will be clearly labeled as "Advertisement" and will be visually, graphically, and content-wise entirely distinct from scientific articles, journal news, and other editorial content. Any ambiguity in distinguishing between scholarly and advertising content is strictly prohibited.
5. No Influence on Editorial Decisions EHEMJ explicitly declares that the presence or absence of advertising will have no impact whatsoever on:
- The peer-review process,
- Decisions regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection,
- Publication schedules,
- Prioritization of special issues. This independence is registered as a non-negotiable principle in the journal's ethical charter.
6. Oversight and Accountability In the event of receiving any complaints or concerns regarding advertising content (whether from readers, authors, or editorial board members), the matter will be immediately reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief, and if necessary, the relevant advertisement will be removed without any delay. Periodic reports on advertising activities (if any) will be made publicly available.
