Ethical Considerations:
Introduction: The Environmental Health Engineering and Management Journal (EHEMJ) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity in scientific communication. The journal strictly adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Compliance with these principles is mandatory for all authors, reviewers, and editors.
1. Research Ethics:
- Informed Consent: Authors must explicitly state in the "Ethical Considerations" section (placed after the Acknowledgments) that informed consent was obtained from all human adult participants, as well as from the parents or legal guardians of minors.
- Ethics Committee Approval: The research ethics committee ID and the name of the appropriate institutional review board that approved the project must be clearly mentioned in the "Ethical issue" section of the manuscript. A formal statement from the Bioethics Committee is essential for clinical trials and other relevant human studies.
- Animal Welfare: For studies involving experimental animals, authors must indicate in the text that the maintenance and care of the animals comply with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) guidelines for the humane use of laboratory animals, or those of the respective institute or agency.
2. Publication Ethics & Authorship:
- Plagiarism: Plagiarism in any form, including text, data, or ideas without proper attribution, as well as "self-plagiarism," is considered a serious breach of scholarly conduct and is strictly prohibited. The journal employs plagiarism detection tools to screen all submissions.
- Data Integrity: Data fabrication or falsification is strictly forbidden.
- Authorship: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. "Guest authorship" or the omission of legitimate contributors is unacceptable.
- Duplicate Submission: Simultaneous submission of the manuscript to this journal and any other publication is strictly prohibited.
3. Competing Interests and Funding:
- All authors are required to disclose any potential financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of the research.
- All research articles must include a funding statement under a separate heading entitled ‘Funding’, placed directly after the Ethical issue section, detailing the sources of financial support.
4. Consequences of Misconduct: In the event of any ethical misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication, or failure to obtain ethical approval), the journal reserves the right to take the following corrective actions:
- Immediate rejection of the manuscript at any stage of the review or publication process.
- Retraction of the published article if misconduct is discovered post-publication.
- Formal notification of the misconduct to the authors' affiliated institutions or universities.
